A mostly pictorial blog about the day to day life in our beautiful Oasis - El Rio De Aguas, Almeria, Spain.

Here we are, a couple of pictures of The Ram Pump. This pump supplies water to the whole village at a rate of about 4 litres a minute, sometimes more. It works on the pressure of water coming down the feed pipe and compressing air in the long vertical pipe. The compressed air then pushes the water up the hill. This is a brilliant and simple system and the design dates back to the Montepelier brothers in the 18th century. !
