We had nearly 4 liters of rain per square meter yesterday.
Picking "rocket". It is growing wild in huge quantities. !
A view from the top looking across to the Filabres mountains.
I am going to cross the valley and up the hill on the other side. !
I am now on the top of the hill on the other side and looking up the valley towards Sorbas.
Looking the other way down the valley towards the Nacimiento, (The Spring) of El Rio. You see the dry river bed.
I need to go down and up the other side. !
The way down. Wild boar tracks.
I am on the top - the other side - a view of Sorbas and the snow capped Sierra Nevada in the background.
Looking the other way towards Mojacar.
Walking across the plateau.
Coming back into El Rio.
Always a beautiful view looking up the valley.
And there we are - up the hill to Casa De La Realidad.
A mostly pictorial blog about the day to day life in our beautiful Oasis - El Rio De Aguas, Almeria, Spain.

Here is a "post" I wrote recently for The Global Alliance for The Rights of Nature
ECOCIDE EL RIO DE AGUAS
THE LAST OASIS IN WESTERN EUROPE
Since 2014 we have been fighting to save our Oasis in the only semi-arid/desert region in Western Europe. We are famous for “Spaghetti Westerns”, and now infamous for ECOCIDE.
The ECOCIDE is being created by 6 million olive trees – super intensive – given permissions by the Administration.
Watch this short video taken by drone. We made a demonstration march against the olive plantations. We are walking back along the side of the road.
Our river is dying. The water supply is 400% over-exploited. Our Oasis is dying:
We have strongly denounced the Junta De Andalucia with the threat of legal action. They have replied with a 17 point plan.
It is insufficient to save our valley. We are examining further legal strategies to save our Ecosystem. We must have IMMEDIATE action.
We will keep you informed. MONEY, POWER AND INFLUENCE are destroying our ENVIRONMENT..
This case is reflected throughout the world.

https://www.diariodealmeria.es/finanzasyagricultura/Medio-Ambiente-salvar-acuifero-Aguas_0_1260774196.html
It looks good. It reads well. Now for a reality check:
17 point plan - potential initial 18 month time delay - community of irrigantes could be a "company" as in a "business" - "process" to be opened to decide on how much to limit water exploitation - suggestion 20% - compliance with some of our demands - no technical reports available - lack of knowledge - 2027 quoted as the horizon for action - weak and probably ineffective considering our critical situation.

So, taking all that into account we will review our strategic options.
We are out of time. We need action NOW. ! I will keep you "posted". !
